Alexander Graf Lambsdorff said that Russia does not show readiness for negotiations and insists on unrealistic conditions. He also noted that the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region has caused concern in Russia.

German Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Graf Lambsdorf said that Russia is not ready for peace talks with Ukraine. He stated this in the newspaper Bonner General-Anzeiger, writes UNN.

At the moment, the Russian side does not demonstrate any willingness to negotiate, but insists on exaggerated preconditions

- Lambsdorff explained.

When Putin says that he is only willing to talk to Ukraine if it first fully withdraws from all the territories that he believes Russia has already annexed, including those that Russia does not even militarily control, “it obviously shows a lack of seriousness,” said Lambsdorff, who has been ambassador to Moscow for about a year.

He also added that the work of the German embassy in Moscow is focused on being ready to act if Moscow's attitude changes.

Because one day, Russia must also realize that it is achieving much less with this war than it planned to do at the beginning, that it is causing serious damage to itself internationally, and that it is in a war economy that is completely overheated and will not be sustainable

- said the ambassador.

He noted that Ukraine's current offensive with ground troops into Russia's Kursk region has caused concern in Russia. It was an unpleasant surprise for border guards, special services, military, civil defense forces, and the population that the Ukrainian military was able to succeed in such an operation.

The Washington Post, citing its sources, reports that Ukraine and Russia were planning to send delegations to Doha this month to conclude a historic agreement to end attacks on energy facilities and infrastructure on both sides. This could lead to a partial ceasefire and provide a reprieve for both countries.
