Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tahkna strongly condemned the decision to allow Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to attend the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Skopje. According to him, Russia will use this opportunity to spread its propaganda and undermine the unity of the West. He noted that while the OSCE meeting is taking place in Skopje, the Russian military machine is attacking innocent Ukrainians and deporting children.
Lavrov's presence downplays the brutal crimes that Russia continues to commit. Estonia cannot sit at the same table as the aggressor and be responsible for the consequences that the presence of the laurel may cause. This is contrary to our fundamental principles,
He emphasized that it is now extremely important to immediately stop the aggression, withdraw Russian troops from the occupied territories, compensate for the destruction and bring the perpetrators to justice. However, there are no signs that Russia is even considering acting in accordance with international law and OSCE principles.
The OSCE was established to restore European security, prevent conflicts and maintain peace. Through its illegal and brutal actions, Russia has repeatedly proved that it is not a security partner of Europe. In fact, Europe now needs to defend itself from Russia and against Russia,
