The start of the match was dominated by the English. In the 36th minute, Jude Bellingham opened the scoring after a pass from Bukayo Saka, and two minutes later he scored a brace, this time assisted by Harry Kane. At the end of the first half, Julián Quiñones reduced the deficit for Mexico and brought the intrigue back into the game.
After the break, England were reduced to ten men – in the 54th minute, Jarrell Quansah received a red card for a serious foul. Despite this, in the 60th minute, Harry Kane converted a penalty to make it 3:1. Soon after, Raúl Jiménez also scored from the penalty spot, again cutting Mexico's deficit to a minimum.
England held on under fierce pressure
The referee added 11 minutes of stoppage time in the second half, and almost all of that time the ball was near the English goal. The Mexican national team created several dangerous chances but failed to equalize.
