Ceasefire has been violated several times - Rubio
Kyiv • UNN
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the truce was violated, but peace is closer because the parties are talking. The US is waiting for action from Russia, not dragging out the process.

The US sees that the ceasefire has been violated several times in Russia's war against Ukraine, but believes that peace is already closer. This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a briefing in Brussels on Friday, reports UNN.
We see that the ceasefire has been violated several times, but we are closer to peace because both sides are talking to each other. But for now, they do not want to end the conflict," Rubio said.
Rubio said it's not about trusting Putin, it's about actions.
"It's not about whether you can trust Putin. I don't trust anyone. It's not about trusting Putin, it's about actions. If you are interested in peace, then you stop the fire, you stop fighting and then you offer the conditions on which you want to end the war, and these must be adequate conditions. If they are not interested in peace, then you delay the process, you make up some excuses. We will not be dragged into this. We are ready for different options, but we hope that it will not be just a waste of time," Rubio said.
He also stressed that the US wants to know if Russia wants peace.
"If we wake up tomorrow and see the Russians launching some kind of offensive operation, it will be clear that they are not interested in peace. We want to know if they want peace or not," Rubio said.
Addition
Marco Rubio said that Ukrainians have shown their willingness to cease fire and create space for negotiations. Therefore, the US must know whether Russia is ready for peace, and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin must make this decision.
Rubio also stressed that if Russia has a tactic of waiting and procrastination, then the US will not be interested in this, and President Donald Trump will not fall into the trap of endless negotiations.
According to Rubio, America has determined the time in which it wants to hear from Russia about its readiness for peace. Congress has already begun working on a bill to strengthen sanctions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that America and Russia are talking about a complete ceasefire, because Ukraine has agreed to this and added that it may be possible to put pressure on Russia to cease fire in the coming weeks or months.
FoxNews journalist Jackie Heinrich reported that US President Donald Trump believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is stalling for time, and the administration is watching the aggressive use of sanctions, including the Russian "shadow fleet".
