Britain imposes the largest package of sanctions against Russia's “shadow fleet”
Kyiv • UNN
The United Kingdom imposed sanctions on 30 Russian ships that were transporting oil worth more than $4.3 billion. The sanctioned vessels include the Bratsk, Belgorod, Antarctica, and others.
Thirty ships of Russia's “shadow fleet” responsible for the transportation of oil and oil products worth billions of pounds over the past year alone have been sanctioned by the United Kingdom. This is stated in a statement by the government of the country, UNN reports.
As noted, since half of the vessels against which sanctions have been imposed today have transported oil and oil products worth more than $4.3 billion over the past year alone, this is the largest package of sanctions in the UK.
This move will further limit the Kremlin's ability to finance its illegal war in Ukraine and its malicious activities around the world, and will bring the total number of oil tankers under UK sanctions to 73 - more than any other country, demonstrating the UK's leadership in the fight against the shadow fleet
It is noted that oil revenues are a key source of funding for the Kremlin's war in Ukraine. The shadow fleet also poses significant risks to global trade.
Today, sanctions have been imposed on the ships Bratsk, Belgorod, Antarctica, Krasnoyarsk and Viktor Bakayev, among others. AlfaStrakhovanie and VSK Insurance House were also included in the sanctions list.
