According to reports, she does not like life in Russia under Putin's patronage, so she plans to divorce Assad and move to London. Two weeks ago, former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad and his family fled to Moscow after rebels reached the capital Damascus and his palace.
Asma Asad, the wife of Bashar Asal, after being forced to move, applied to a Russian court for a special permit to leave Moscow. Her request is apparently currently being considered by the Russian authorities.
In addition, she has British citizenship, having been born in 1975 in London. In 2000, she moved to Syria, where she married Bashar al-Assad at the age of 25.
Currently, the former Syrian dictator himself is living in a Russian asylum under strict restrictions: his asylum application has been approved, but he is not allowed to leave Moscow or engage in political activities.
It is also reported that the Russian authorities have frozen his assets. The assets include 270 kilograms of gold, two billion dollars and 18 apartments in Moscow.
