A spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill that members of the Secret Service unit spotted a man trying to jump over a temporary counterbalance fence in the White House neighborhood around 11 a.m. local time Saturday.

The fence is set up around the site just a month before the next presidential inauguration.

The man was “quickly taken into custody and arrested for trespassing,” the spokesperson wrote, adding that the man “did not breach the fence and there was no impact on any of the protected persons.

A federal agency spokesman said the man was taken to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department for processing.

The Metropolitan Police Department, when reached for further comment, said the case was “under review by the U.S. Secret Service.

In late May 2017, the Secret Service arrested a man who tried to jump over a barricade near the White House grounds.

“The individual was charged with trespassing and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department,” the Secret Service said at the time.
