Details

The square-shaped painting was created in 1970. The canvas was made using enamel applied to cotton fabric. At the previous show in Berlin, this work was not shown to avoid possible contamination that would reduce its value. At the same time, experts noted that the 50-year-old work of art is “in very good condition.

Robert Ryman, known as a jazz musician and a member of the New York Museum of Modern Art, did not seek to give his works a mythical or narrative content. Instead, he allowed the viewer to become an active participant in art.

Those works that were exhibited only three times-in 1972, 1977, and 1982-are highly valued on the art market.

The auction will also feature other paintings. For example, Max Beckmann's Big Clown with Women and a Little Clown from 1950, which is estimated at €1.8 million. And Legno P 1 by Alberto Burri from 1958, which is expected to cost about 1.2 million euros.
