The Republic of Kazakhstan is the largest country in Central Asia and the ninth largest in the world, covering 2,724,900 square kilometers. Located deep within the Eurasian continent, it borders Russia, China, and other Central Asian states. The country's population is estimated to be 20.4 million in 2025, and its capital city is Astana. Kazakhstan was the last republic to declare independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Since then, the country has transitioned from a planned to a market economy, which has significantly changed its development.
