YouTube traffic in Russia has dropped to 20% of normal levels due to deliberate restrictions by the authorities. Google shows a drop from 40 to 8.5 points.

YouTube video hosting traffic in Russia has dropped to 20% of normal. This means the actual blocking of video hosting in Russia, the telegram channel "ZaTelecom" writes, citing Google data, UNN reports.

Google's monitoring service now shows 8.5 points for Russian traffic.

As he explains, before the slowdown, this figure was 40 points: that is, according to him, we can now talk about a real blocking of YouTube.

"That is, we are not talking about some kind of trolling, but a real blocking," the statement said.

Russian authorities began restricting YouTube in the summer. At first, Rostelecom explained the slowdown in video upload speeds by "technical problems with equipment owned by Google," but then the authorities admitted that the slowdown was intentional. The latest, most serious wave of slowdowns began last week and is still ongoing.
