“We need to pay attention to the technology of the army, not the age of the soldier.” Zelensky on lowering the mobilization age
Kyiv • UNN
The President of Ukraine said that modern warfare is a war of technology, not trenches and trenches. The priority is to preserve the lives of young people and the technological capabilities of the army, not the age of the military.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that modern weapons, drones, artillery and missiles play a key role, and saving the lives of young people remains a priority. He said this during an interview with the French edition of Le Parisien, UNN reports.
"We have heard signals from some leaders that 'let's lower the mobilization age'. I believe that today this is an unfair conversation. I said this publicly and privately to the leaders," Zelensky said.
He emphasized that modern warfare is different, it is not about trenches, in a trench with a machine gun, but modern weapons - drones, artillery, long-range missiles, aviation.
"It is clear that the younger a person is, the stronger he is, but it is important for me to save lives of people, young people. It is important to pay attention to the technological capability of the army, not to the age of the soldier... This is not the First World War or hand-to-hand combat - this is a war of weapons, intelligence, technology," the President said.
Recall
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy statedthat Ukraine does not plan to lower the mobilization age, but that the Ministry of Defense and the military command should introduce a new system of contracts that will have a specific motivational component, which will allow the army to be formed more through contracts than mobilization.
