Moldovan law enforcement detained two officials on suspicion of high treason and conspiracy against the country. The suspects collected and passed information to an embassy employee to the detriment of Moldova's interests.

In Moldova, law enforcement officers detained two officials from the parliamentary secretariat and the border police on suspicion of treason. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Crime and Particularly Important Cases of Moldova (PCCOCS).

Details

According to law enforcement, the suspects have been committing crimes since 2023. One of the detainees is suspected of high treason, as he “collected and passed information to an embassy employee to be used to the detriment of Moldova's interests.

The second detainee is also suspected of conspiracy against Moldova.

According to law enforcement, he acted for personal gain. The official also “kept in touch with an embassy employee in order to collect and transmit information to him for use to the detriment of the interests of the Republic of Moldova.

Both officials were taken into custody for 72 hours, the investigation is ongoing.

It should be noted that the prosecutor's office does not specify which embassy it is.
