The situation in the country, which has been at war for more than 13 years, is taking on a new dangerous dimension. The escalation of the conflict leads to numerous civilian casualties, destruction of infrastructure and deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
It is estimated that the current stage of the war poses a serious threat to regional security and stability. The war in Syria has already led to significant human losses – more than half a million people have died, and millions have become refugees. At the same time, the conflict remains a source of socio-economic crisis, which continues to complicate the lives of Syrians.
Ukraine notes that the situation in Syria is complicated by the influence of external factors. The terrorist country and Iran, together with the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad, play a key role in the escalation of the conflict. The crimes of these regimes threaten not only peace in the region, but also the existence of Syria as a single state.
Ukraine also recalls the involvement of the Syrian regime in supporting Russian aggression, in particular by sending mercenaries to war in Ukraine after the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022. In its statement, Kiev focuses on the links between the military actions of the occupiers, Iran and Syria, which destabilize the situation not only in the Middle East, but also in Europe.
Ukraine calls on the international community to take decisive steps to stabilize the situation in Syria and protect the rights of its citizens. Kyiv believes that ending the war is possible only if international resolutions are implemented, a platform for dialogue and building a Democratic state that guarantees the rights of its citizens.
