The Seimas of Lithuania approved the candidacy of Mindaugas Sinkevičius for the post of Prime Minister. A new coalition was formed after the exclusion of the party "Dawn of Nemunas" from the ruling coalition.

The Seimas of Lithuania approved the candidacy of Social Democratic Party leader Mindaugas Sinkevičius for the position of Prime Minister. He will head the new government after another reshuffling of the ruling coalition. This is reported by LRT, UNN reports.
Third coalition reshuffle in less than two years
The day before, the Social Democrats excluded the party "Dawn of Nemunas" led by Remigijus Žemaitaitis from the ruling coalition. After that, a new coalition was formed involving the Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Union "In the Name of Lithuania" and the Union of Peasants, Greens and Christian Families of Lithuania, which has 75 votes in parliament.
Social Democrats - Sinkevičius is capable of uniting the government
During the discussion of the candidacy, the elder of the Social Democratic faction, Orinta Leiputė, stated that Sinkevičius has all the necessary qualities to lead the government.
"This is a leader who always chooses openness and dialogue. He listens to people, not just talks, judges them by their deeds, not by their titles,"
Opposition speaks of a governance crisis
At the same time, the opposition criticized the personnel changes in the government. Conservative leader Laurynas Kasčiūnas stated that in less than two years, the country has changed its coalition and government for the third time.
"These were two lost years for Lithuania. We talked more about scandals than about results,"
The leader of the party "Dawn of Nemunas" Remigijus Žemaitaitis, which was excluded from the coalition, stated that in a year and eight months, Lithuania has effectively changed three or even four prime ministers, and criticized the new composition of the government.
New coalition promises more stability
Representative of the Democratic Union "In the Name of Lithuania" Lukas Savickas stated that the renewed coalition should work without constant public conflicts.
"This should mean fewer public conflicts and more mutual trust,"
Liberals - the country does not need new experiments
Leader of the Liberal Movement Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen also assessed the situation critically, stating that the frequent change of government leadership indicates a governance crisis.
"Lithuania no longer needs another experiment. The country needs a government that knows what it is doing and takes responsibility for its decisions,"
