The US Department of Defense has launched an investigation using a polygraph due to a leak of information about Elon Musk's meeting with the Pentagon regarding plans for war with China. Musk threatened to sue for disclosure of data.
The U.S. Department of Defense has launched an investigation using a polygraph after billionaire Elon Musk threatened Pentagon employees who may have leaked information that he was to receive a top-secret briefing on U.S. military plans in the event of a potential war with China. This is reported by Bloomberg, reports UNN.
Details
It is noted that the check was initiated by Joe Kasper, chief of staff to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. He called for an investigation into the "unauthorized disclosure" of information relating to national security, and to "hand over those responsible to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for criminal prosecution."
The investigation was triggered by a wave of discussions sparked by Elon Musk's recent visit to the Pentagon.
On March 21, the billionaire met with military officials to discuss defense innovation and cost reduction. However, even before the meeting, The New York Times reported that, according to anonymous U.S. officials, the Pentagon planned to brief Musk on Friday on the U.S. military's plan in the event of any war that might break out with China.
After the information was released, representatives of the Pentagon and President Trump confirmed the planned meeting - but both denied that military plans regarding China would be discussed at the meeting.
China will not even be mentioned or discussed," Trump wrote in a post on his social platform Truth Social. "How disgraceful that discredited media can fabricate such lies. In any case, this story is absolutely false!
Trump's comments were then reposted on the social network X by Elon Musk, who called the New York Times "pure propaganda" and threatened, saying that he "looks forward to prosecuting those in the Pentagon who maliciously leak false information to the NYT."
