Kyiv • UNN
The incidence of influenza and SARS in Ukraine is 18-20% lower than last year, but it is expected to increase in winter. During the epidemic season, more than a million Ukrainians fell ill, and about 100 thousand are ill every week.
In Ukraine, as in other European countries, there is a gradual increase in the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (Arvi). At the same time, the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections is 18-20% lower than in the same period last year. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin in an interview, reports UNN.
Details
Morbidity rates are lower due to the fact that the covid wave occurred in the summer, which contributed to high morbidity rates at that time. Today, The New Omicron strain remains dominant in Europe and Ukraine.
Kuzin said that in general, during the epidemic season, more than a million Ukrainians were ill with influenza and SARS, which is 20% less compared to the same period last year.
However, the proportion of COVID-19 cases has decreased, and this is the reason for the decrease in the total number of patients with acute respiratory viral infections.
On average, about 100 thousand Ukrainians suffer from respiratory diseases every week. It is expected that in December, January and February, the incidence of influenza and SARS will increase and come out on top among infectious diseases, and COVID-19 will increasingly fade into the background.
Kuzin summed up that influenza and SARS will occupy a dominant position in the total number of cases in the coming months.
