Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine and the EU discussed cooperation on solidarity roads, the TEN-T network, border infrastructure, freight liberalization, export potential, and support for the aviation industry.
On Thursday, March 21, a high-level meeting was held in Kyiv within the framework of the Transport Dialogue between Ukraine and the European Commission. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Details
Ukraine was represented at the meeting by Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, who met with Director General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move) Magda Kopczynska.
It is noted that the meeting focused on cooperation on the Solidarity Roads, the TEN-T network, the development of border infrastructure, the extension of the Agreement on the Liberalization of Freight Transport between Ukraine and the EU, the development of export capacities at sea and by rail, and support for the aviation industry.
Our cooperation with the European Commission, in particular DG Move, on transport and logistics has a decisive impact on increasing exports and imports between Ukraine and the EU. At the same time, we have many joint plans, in particular under the Connecting European Facilities (CEF) program, through which we plan to build a number of border crossing points. At the same time, there are issues that require our enhanced cooperation, such as the extension of the Agreement on Liberalization of Freight Transport between Ukraine and the EU, as this issue is critical for the survival of our economy and the ability to both export goods and deliver them to Ukraine
The Ministry of Infrastructure said that the meeting focused on cooperation in the development of all modes of transport and the modernization of critical transport infrastructure with a priority on the TEN-T network.
In addition, the parties raised the issue of the need to harmonize regulations to support transport safety and implement sustainable solutions for intercity and urban mobility.
Recall
The European Commission is considering options for additional duties on grain imports from Russia and Belarus, and is looking for a balance in supporting Ukraine's economy and imposing protective barriers on a separate group of Ukrainian goods.
