"Not for a photo op": Kushner and Witkoff are ready to go to Moscow and Kyiv only if there are new reasons for negotiations - NYT
Kyiv • UNN
Trump's representatives Kushner and Witkoff will not go to negotiations for a photo op, but only if there are new reasons. They are simultaneously conducting negotiations on Iran and Ukraine.

U.S. President representatives Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are ready to travel to Moscow and Kyiv for "peace negotiations" between Ukraine and Russia only if there are "new reasons for negotiations; they will not go 'for a photo op'." This is reported by The New York Times, citing an unnamed White House official, UNN informs.
Details
The publication notes that "at the center of the gap between the escalation of violence in Eastern Europe" and the apparent lack of attention from the Trump administration to the issue of the war in Ukraine are the president's two main negotiators for both Iran and Ukraine: special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law.
This week, they traveled to Qatar for another round of negotiations on Iran, even as Ukraine launched more drones toward Moscow and Russia prepared for its latest barrage targeting Kyiv
It is noted that Witkoff and Kushner, who last year helped achieve a ceasefire in the war in Gaza, are real estate developers who call themselves dealmakers that avoid the strict traditions of diplomacy.
This approach means they conduct several negotiations simultaneously, as they did in their business careers and as Mr. Kushner did during Mr. Trump's first term
The media adds that the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II indeed affects the United States and could still escalate into "an even bigger fire."
Recall
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he wants the war between Ukraine and Russia to end, as well as "the senseless killing to stop."
