Norway to allocate billions for new air defense systems for Ukraine - Prime Minister
Kyiv • UNN
Norway will allocate billions for new air defense systems for Ukraine because of the urgent need for help against Russian missile and drone attacks.
Due to the urgent need for assistance to Ukraine, Norway will now contribute to the creation of an air defense system in the country. This was stated by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in an interview with TV2, reports UNN.
Every morning, the news reports Russian missiles and drones hitting civilian buildings, energy facilities, and killing many people. Ukraine has been able to defend itself against this, but it is running out of supplies
He noted that Norway will now allocate billions for Ukraine's air defense. The Nansen program (a package of targeted assistance to Ukraine that provides military and civilian support worth NOK 75 billion over five years) was partially used for this purpose, but now the country plans to include aid to Ukraine in the budget.
In the revised budget, we will also allocate sufficient funds to ensure that Norway is involved in this initiative from the very beginning
Støre claims that significant funds will be spent, but does not name the exact amount.
We will return to this issue when we present the revised budget. It is expensive, but preserving peace and freedom costs money. Those who pay the highest price are Ukraine and Ukrainians
