Monument to Bolshevik officer Shchors demolished in Kyiv

In Kyiv, after 6 hours of efforts by public utilities, the monument to Mykola Shchors was dismantled and will be placed on the territory of the Antonov Museum.

A monument to Bolshevik leader Mykola Shchors was demolished in the capital today. Utilities worked on the dismantling for 6 hours. UNN reports this with reference to the Kyiv City State Administration. 

The dismantling of the monument to Mykola Shchors is over.  Specialists of the Kyivblagoustrii utility company worked on dismantling the 7-ton structure for 6 hours.  The dismantling took place in the morning on a day off, so as not to paralyze traffic on the city's central streets

It is noted that the work had to partially block traffic on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard. 

The monument will be kept in the State Museum of Aviation of Ukraine named after O. Antonov.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, more than 60 monuments related to the history and culture of Russia and the USSR have already been demolished in the capital. Currently, the city is working on the objects from which the government has removed the protected status. For example, a monument to Alexander Pushkin was recently dismantled in the capital .
