Diesel generators at the ZNPP are operational, but the situation at the station is difficult - Grossi
Kyiv • UNN
The IAEA has denied reports of a fuel spill at the ZNPP, but will inspect fuel tanks after access is granted. Experts have confirmed that diesel generators can operate in the event of a loss of external power.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) believes that reports of a fuel spill at the warehouses for diesel generators of the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP are "fake". But the IAEA promises to check the fuel tanks after it gains access to them.
UNN reports with reference to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The IAEA has requested access to the fuel tanks of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in his statement responded to the condition of the diesel reservoir, which may have been damaged.
The off-site power situation at the ZNPP remains highly unstable, it is very important that these diesel generators can start immediately without any problems. Our experts this week were able to confirm that the diesel generators that were tested can perform their functions if the plant loses external connection again. Constant vigilance is needed in this regard.
The IAEA is aware of reports of a possible spill of fuel stored in warehouses for ZNPP diesel generators.
The Agency announced that it expects access to fuel tanks to assess the situation firsthand on its own.
Responding to a question about the report, the IAEA team at the ZNPP was told that it was "fake" and that no such leaks from the site's fuel tanks had been detected.
The Agency has information that there is currently enough fuel in the warehouses - at least for ten days of operation of its diesel generators.
The IAEA report also states that the station occupied by the Russians has 20 emergency diesel generators (EDG) for six reactors. Also - there are six mobile diesel generators (MDG).
As part of the safety measures introduced in connection with the accident at the Fukushima NPP in 2011, Ukraine installed six mobile diesel generators (MDG), four of which are connected to reactor units, and two are outside the ZNPP site.
Last year, the ZNPP purchased three new MDGs, which are located next to the turbine buildings of three reactor units - the Agency noted that they are not connected. Testing of one EDG and one of the new DRTs was carried out this week.
The IAEA also continued to monitor the maintenance of some ZNPP safety systems and discussed emergency preparedness and response arrangements with the site.
The team members toured the site's hydraulic structures and the reactor building of Unit 4, where the team noticed traces of dried boric acid in some areas, as well as a faulty seal on a pump.
Remind
Russia violates the rights of IAEA experts at the ZNPP, forcing them to stay at the station for about 80 days under psychological pressure.
UNN previously reported that after a Russian drone strike on the Chornobyl confinement, IAEA experts found significant damage, including a 6-meter hole.
