Over the past period, the boldness of border violators' actions against border guards may have increased, but there has been no sharp increase in attempts to illegally cross the border; in June, there were slightly fewer such attempts compared to May.
Over the past period, the boldness of the actions of state border violators against the State Border Guard Service servicemen has gradually increased, possibly increasing. Attempts to illegally cross the border continue on a daily basis, but no sharp increase has been recorded. If we compare June and May, there were slightly fewer such attempts in June than a month earlier. This was stated by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon on Tuesday, UNN reports.
Details
"We can see that over the last period, the audacity of the offenders' actions against the State Border Guard Service servicemen has been gradually increasing, as this is not the first time that our border guards have had to use firearms to save their lives and health," said Demchenko.
He added that attempts to illegally cross the border continue daily.
"Every day our units detain violators who try to cross the border illegally. Most of these cases are recorded along the "green" section of the border, i.e. outside the checkpoints, but there are also cases when people try to cross the border illegally through the checkpoints. They either use fakes, hide in vehicles, or try to bribe border guards. In terms of quantitative indicators, there has been no sharp increase, but unfortunately, the number of such cases is not decreasing. If we compare June and May, there were slightly fewer such attempts in June than in the previous month," added Demchenko.
According to him, most violators try to cross the border near Moldova and Romania.
"There are also such attempts on the border with Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland, but they are much less frequent than in the previous sections," the SBGS spokesman added.
In addition, he emphasized that border guards hope that there will be no increase in the number of attempts to illegally cross the border starting tomorrow, when the deadline for updating military records for men expires.
Recall
On Sunday, July 14, in Odesa region, border guards stopped a car with five people, two of whom tried to escape. One of them attacked a border guard, who responded with a weapon, and the offender died.
