In order to identify the geolocation of Ukrainian troops, the defendant drove around the city and its surroundings in his own car, where he secretly took pictures of the objects he needed. He would pass the information to his Russian curator via an anonymous chat in a messenger.

In the event of the capture of Odesa, the enemy accomplice hoped to head the "construction department" of the local occupation administration of Russia under the protection of the Russian special service. SBU officers exposed and documented the agent in advance and then detained him red-handed. The offender was near a military facility, where he tried to film its perimeter.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a 55-year-old resident of a coastal village in Odesa district who periodically published his pro-Kremlin comments on Russian TV channels.

During a search of the detainee's residence, SBU officers found two mobile phones that he used to communicate with the FSB. SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
