At Moscow Oil Refinery, fire is again recorded after drone attack

At the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, a fire is again being recorded after a drone raid on Moscow, Russian media and Telegram channels report, writes UNN.

Details

The Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, which was hit twice by drone attacks in June, caught fire again on Friday. Thick black smoke is rising from the plant with a capacity of 14 million tons per year, which supplied about a third of fuel consumption in the Russian capital, reports The Moscow Times.

At night, Moscow was attacked by at least 14 drones, reported Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. According to him, all of them were shot down.

The Gazprom Neft refinery in Kapotnya, which produces 3 million tons of gasoline and the same amount of diesel fuel per year, was attacked on June 16 and 18, after which it halted production. At the plant, according to Reuters sources, both primary oil refining units were damaged. Their repair could drag on until 2027, the agency's interlocutors said.

In total, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense "destroyed" 376 UAVs. Among the targets hit were the Ilsky Refinery in Krasnodar Krai, the port terminal of Kurgannefteprodukt LLC in Taganrog, an oil depot in Azov, and the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant (AOMP), which produces sights and thermal imagers for missiles, aircraft, and armor.

Also, the monitoring Telegram channel Exilenova+ writes that "we are recording a fire in the area of the Nizhnekamsk Refinery." Details are being clarified.

Reminder

On June 25, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved a 40-day operation for the SBU to influence the aggressor state, the goal of which is to force Russia to end the war. The operation involves the use of long-range weapons and the implementation of a comprehensive plan to influence the enemy's military infrastructure.

In addition, Ukraine has the technical capability to organize a naval blockade of Russia in the Baltic and Black Seas using UAVs. This was stated by co-founder and chief designer of Fire Point, Denys Shtilerman.
