On April 28, 2025, a Su-27 fighter jet was lost during a combat mission. The pilot successfully ejected and was taken to a medical facility, his life is not in danger.

Ukrainian drones attacked the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery in the Samara region of the Russian Federation. The plant is one of the largest producers of aviation fuel for military aircraft, including the Su-27 and Tu-22M3.

Ukrainian defense forces attacked a military airfield in Adygea, Russia. An ammunition depot was hit, a fire was reported and the nearby village was evacuated. Su-34 and Su-27 aircraft were based at the airfield.

The Air Force was, in fact, the first to take the brunt of the enemy attack, as enemy aircraft tried to establish their dominance in the Ukrainian sky at any cost. Since the beginning of the war, 363 enemy airplanes, 326 helicopters, 13057 operational and tactical UAVs, and 2410 cruise missiles have been destroyed in the skies over Ukraine.
