During his meeting with Biden, Chinese leader Xi Jinping expressed his willingness to cooperate with the future Trump administration.

During a meeting with current US President Joe Biden, whose term in office expires in January, Chinese leader Xi Jinping assured of his readiness to work with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

Biden met with Xi at the hotel where the Chinese leader is staying on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Lima for the first  talks in seven months, which will also be the last of the American president's term.

China's goal of stable, healthy and sustainable Sino-US relations remains unchanged,

Biden, for his part, noted that there have been "ups and downs" in the relationship between China and the United States. He emphasized that although he and Xi did not always agree with each other, their discussions were "sincere" and "frank.

The newspaper notes that Donald Trump has already promised to impose a total of 60% tariffs on imports of Chinese goods to the United States as part of the "America First" trade package. Beijing opposes these steps. 

The Republican president-elect also plans to hire several critics of China, including U.S. Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State and Congressman Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor.
