Early Music Day

This holiday, which coincides with the birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, aims to honor more than a thousand years of musical heritage. The celebration of Early Music Day was initiated by Peter Pontvik, the founder of the Stockholm Early Music Festival (SEMF). In 2025, the 13th event will be held, bringing together communities of early music lovers and promoting it to the general public.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

In 1966, the UN General Assembly established this Day to commemorate the people killed by police during a peaceful demonstration in 1960 in Sharpeville, South Africa. Its participants wanted to protest against the laws that required mandatory identification of local Africans. Then the police shot the protesters. 69 people died. This event shocked the world community. Then the UN began to actively fight against racial discrimination in the world.

Day of St. James the Confessor, Bishop of Catania

On this day, the Holy Church (of the Eastern rite, which uses the Julian calendar) honors the memory of St. James the Confessor, Bishop of Catania.

The saint led an ascetic life from his youth, became a monk and wrote Divine books. During the years of the iconoclasts (during the reign of Kopronymos), the monk was forced to renounce the worship of icons, but he did not obey, for which he suffered from exile and hunger, which caused him to die.

World Tattoo Day

This day unites fans of artistic tattoos, artists and craftsmen to pay tribute to the ancient form of body art, which has become a way of self-expression. The holiday also aims to strengthen ties within the global tattoo and body art community. The choice of the day for the celebration is also not accidental. It coincides with the International Color Day, which plays a significant role in the art of tattooing.
