As reported by the diplomatic department, Sybiha informed the Japanese minister about the situation on the battlefield, Ukraine's long-range sanctions against Russia, and the prospects for peace efforts.
The partnership between our countries is mutually beneficial. It is primarily about exchanging the most valuable thing: experience. Japan's unique experience in post-disaster recovery is extremely important for Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine's unique combat experience is of great importance for Japan's security
Sybiha informed his Japanese counterpart about the barbaric Russian strike on Ukraine's thousand-year-old shrine — the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. At the request of the Ukrainian side, Minister Motegi expressed Japan's intention to provide support through UNESCO for the restoration of the damaged Lavra, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also thanked Japan for providing non-lethal assistance, its contribution to the PURL program, and other types of support.
The minister spoke about the unique combat experience of the Ukrainian military and stated that Ukraine is ready to develop security cooperation with Japan, primarily in the field of unmanned technologies.
He also informed his Japanese colleague about the deepening interaction between Russia and North Korea, which creates challenges for stability both in Europe and Asia. The heads of the foreign ministries exchanged views on joint counteraction to these threats.
Sybiha also emphasized that Ukraine values the position of Japan's Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, regarding support for Ukraine, expressed during the Group of Seven summit in Évian. The minister expressed deep gratitude to Japan for financial, humanitarian, technical, and other types of support totaling over 20 billion dollars, including in the areas of demining, medicine, agriculture, and education.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received assurances from his colleague regarding the continuation of Japan's support.

The goal is not only for the scholarship holders to obtain an academic education but also to form future leaders of public administration who, after completing their studies, will be able to apply the acquired knowledge, research experience, and professional connections to participate in the development and implementation of plans for the social and economic development of Ukraine, strengthening institutional capacity, supporting reforms, and post-war reconstruction
According to the minister, the agreement will allow for the continuation of the JDS scholarship project, strengthening the partnership between Ukraine and Japan, enhancing the human resources potential of Ukrainian institutions, and forming a community of graduates from Japanese universities capable of applying the acquired knowledge to solve practical tasks of Ukraine's social and economic development.
