The Welsh Parliament has confirmed Eluned Morgan as First Minister. She became the first woman in this position in the history of Wales, replacing Vaughan Gething, who resigned.
After the vote, the Welsh Parliament approved Eluned Morgan as the first minister. She became the first woman in history to be appointed to this position. This was reported by the BBC, according to UNN.

It is noted that Eluned Morgan was approved as the First Minister of Wales after a vote in the Welsh Parliament of the Senedd.
Parliament was recalled from its summer recess to nominate her after the previous head of government, Vaughan Gething, resigned. Members of the Seneddu were able to vote virtually, including from abroad.

Morgan also said that she looks forward to the day when "a woman becoming First Minister is no longer an extraordinary thing, but a normal part of our political life in Wales.
Morgan's candidacy was sent to the king, who gave his approval, allowing the new first minister to officially take office.
According to the newspaper, Eluned Morgan became the leader of the Welsh Labor Party last month. Since May 2021, she has served as the Minister of Health.
Morgan became the sixth First Minister of Wales.

Earlier, the First Minister of Wales, Vaughan Gething, announced his resignation four months after taking office. This followed the resignation of three Welsh ministers and his chief legal adviser, who also called on Gething to step down.
