Ukraine is conducting a large-scale repair campaign of its energy infrastructure to prepare for the heating season. It is planned that all 9 nuclear power units will be in operation in winter, covering up to 60% of energy consumption.

In Ukraine, the repair campaign is designed to ensure that virtually all nine nuclear units at Ukrainian NPPs are in operation in winter, when the load on the power system is at its peak. The campaign is also aimed at preparing the equipment for the heating season as much as possible.  This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk during a telethon, according to a correspondent of UNN  .

The situation in the energy system remains difficult as the enemy continues to shell civilian energy infrastructure... One of the largest repair campaigns in the history of Ukraine is currently underway. In fact, these are repairs of both generation facilities and the distribution network

- Kolisnyk said.

He reminded that the total loss of generation as a result of Russian shelling amounted to 9 GW.

Today, the repair campaign is aimed at preparing the equipment for the heating season as much as possible. In particular, Energoatom is doing everything necessary to ensure that the next heating season will be at maximum capacity. That is why repairs are carried out, in particular during the warm season. On the instructions of Energy Minister Galushchenko, the repair campaign is structured in such a way that in winter, during the period of maximum load on the power system, virtually all nine units of nuclear power plants are in operation

- Kolisnyk said.

According to him, nuclear power generation is currently one of the key ones, covering the vast majority of consumption - up to 60%.

Therefore, it is an important component of the heating season

- Kolisnyk said.
