Number of victims of the Russian shelling of a humanitarian mission in the Kherson region has increased

As a result of shelling by Russian troops near the village of Novopetrivka, a participant in humanitarian demining was killed, and five others were wounded. Two of the injured are in serious condition.

The number of affected participants of the humanitarian mission as a result of the enemy shelling in the Kherson region has increased to 5, one person is known to be dead, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on Wednesday, writes UNN.

According to the investigation, on June 24, 2026, at around 1:00 p.m., the military of the russian army shelled the territory near the village of Novopetrivka.
"Members of a non-governmental organization who were conducting humanitarian demining of the area came under fire. One man died, five others received injuries of varying severity," the prosecutor's office stated.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of committing a war crime (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that employees of the international humanitarian organization Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) came under Russian shelling near Novopetrivka.
"All the victims were hospitalized for further care. Two specialists are in serious condition, doctors are fighting for their lives," he noted.
