Some Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives are criticizing former President Donald Trump's selection of Senator Jay DeVance as vice president, warning that this choice will not help - and may harm - the party's chances of winning in November. This is reported by The Hill, according to UNN.

The publication notes that Republicans have expressed concerns about Vance's foreign policy positions, lack of experience, and inability to expand the Republican coalition beyond Trump's base.
“There are undoubtedly many Vance supporters in the GOP House of Representatives, especially hardline conservatives...who favor the populist 'America First' viewpoint espoused by the vice presidential candidate. And Trump's campaign is strongly defending this choice,” the newspaper writes.
At the same time, veteran lawmakers, moderates and Reagan-style conservatives who support a strong foreign policy, said many more of their colleagues have doubts about Vance.
“He was the worst choice of all. It was so bad that I didn't even think it was possible. He is anti-Ukrainian, mostly populist. He adds nothing to Trump's victory. He energizes the very people who love Trump,” said one of the publication's interlocutors from the Republican Party.
Another noted that “if you asked a lot of people in this building, 9 out of 10 from our side would say that this is the wrong choice, he is the only person who can do serious damage.
The third Republican in the House of Representatives said that “there are serious differences” over Vance, and if Trump does not defeat Democrat Kamala Harris in November, Trump's choice for vice president will be to blame.
