A fraudster was detained who extorted $5,000 by promising to issue a fake certificate of an advisor to a battalion commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which would allegedly help him avoid mobilization.

Law enforcement officers found a fraudster who promised to issue a certificate of an advisor to the commander of the Armed Forces battalion for $5,000, which would allegedly help to avoid mobilization. This was reported by UNN with reference to the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

Details

Investigators served the Kyiv resident a notice of suspicion of fraud and incitement to provide an unlawful benefit: the suspect introduced himself as a representative of a public union and promised to issue the Kyiv resident a certificate of an advisor to the commander of an Armed Forces battalion, which would allegedly help him avoid mobilization.

According to law enforcement, the offender wore a military uniform to convince the interlocutor that he was an advisor to the battalion commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; he said that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he allegedly helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine to import weapons to repel the occupiers in Kyiv region.

The defendant asked for $5,000for the production of the ID , the police said.

The police detained the man in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine when he was handing over the ID and receiving the second part of the money.

The offender's place was searched and drugs, weapons and ammunition were seized.

The defendant may be served a notice of suspicion under Articles 309 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal possession of drugs and illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.
