The SBU and the prosecutor's office have collected evidence against Colonel-General of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Nikiforov regarding the missile strike on the drama theater. As a result of the attack, 7 people were killed, including a child, and more than 200 were injured.
In Ukraine, suspicion was reported in absentia to a Russian general who ordered an Iskander to hit a Drama Theater in Chernihiv, reports UNN with reference to the SBU.

The Security Service and the prosecutor's office have collected evidence of war crimes committed by Russian Colonel-General Yevgeny Nikiforov, commander of the Zapad group of troops of the Russian Armed Forces.
On August 19, 2023, on his orders, the invaders launched a rocket attack on the Chernihiv Regional Academic Music and drama theater named after Taras Shevchenko.
During the air attack, the enemy used a cruise missile of the Iskander-M complex, which was launched from the territory of the Kursk region of Russia.
As a result of the enemy attack, seven local residents were killed, including a six – year-old child. More than 200 people received injuries of varying severity.
A large number of dead and injured is due to the fact that a rashist missile strike took place in the central part of the city.
In addition, apartment buildings, administrative buildings and cars of citizens were damaged during the explosion.

Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed Nikiforov in absentia of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder).
