Russia refuses to comment on two incidents: the crash of an Azerbaijani plane and the detention of a tanker near Finland, which the NSDC Center for Countering Disinformation explains as Kremlin tactics in the information war, UNN reports.

"The Kremlin refuses to comment on the downing of an Azerbaijani plane by a Russian air defense system that crashed in Aktau and the detention in Finland of a tanker of the Russian "shadow fleet" suspected of damaging cables. The Russians are trying to justify their silence by the need to "wait for the investigation to be completed," the Center said.
But, as the NSDC's CCD emphasized, "silence only confirms Moscow's guilt." "All the evidence shows that it was Russian air defense that shot down the Azerbaijani plane, and it was the Russians who were involved in damaging the cables between Estonia and Finland. And the Kremlin understands this," the NSDC's CCD said.
"The Russians consciously choose the tactic of silence in the information war when they see that they have lost in terms of the speed of reaction and have not had time to create conspiracy theories. Now the Kremlin is waiting for the information wave of truth to subside, so that they can try to spread manipulations about the investigation and try to influence the public by throwing in a lot of conspiracy theories. This is exactly how the Kremlin acted when it was hiding the blame for the downing of the Malaysian Boeing in 2014. This is exactly how it plans to act now," the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation noted.
