The survey showed that 91.4% of respondents are proud to be Ukrainian, and there is a steady increase in the percentage of people who deeply identify themselves as Ukrainians. For example, pride in national symbols increased from 62.4% in 2000 to 91.4% in 2024. However, this pride has been trending downward in recent years, which may indicate changes in public perception and the political climate.
There is also a shift in citizens' identification from the local to the national level. In particular, the percentage of people who identify themselves primarily with Ukraine increased from 31.3% in 2006 to 52.8% in 2024.
Changes in the perception of what it means to be part of the Ukrainian nation are also a key aspect of public opinion. For example, the definition of the nation as "all citizens of Ukraine" increased from 43.1% in 2006 to 46.2% in 2024, showing a greater inclusiveness.
The public expresses strong support for democratic forms of governance. The percentage of those who consider democracy important has increased from 51.7% in 2010 to 61.2% in 2024, which confirms the desire for transparency and participation in government.
According to surveys, Ukrainians increasingly identify themselves with Western European cultural traditions. While in 2006 this figure was 56.3%, by 2024 it had risen to 76.2%. On the other hand, identification with Russian cultural traditions has significantly decreased, falling from 16.1% in 2006 to 3.7% in 2024.
Ukrainians believe that Western European cultural traditions will dominate in Ukraine in the next 20-25 years. In 2023, 55.2% of respondents predicted this trend, and this figure remained stable in 2024 (54.8%).
