The dispute was triggered by the reform of the German health insurance system, which involves reducing spending on medicines. US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer accused Germany of "consistently underpaying for innovative pharmaceutical products."
At the same time, Washington stated that the conflict can be resolved through negotiations. The US also continues to insist on revising approaches to drug pricing and increasing their production on American territory.
