Maduro called the US Secretary of State an "idiot"

Maduro sharply responded to the US Secretary of State over the situation surrounding Guyana. This is reported by AFP, reports UNN.

Details

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sharply criticized US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling him an "idiot." The reason was Rubio's statements, who warned Caracas of serious consequences in the event of aggression against neighboring Guyana.

During a visit to Guyana, the American official emphasized support for the territorial integrity of this country, hinting at the possible use of US military force to protect it.

In response, Maduro assured that Venezuela does not pose a threat to Guyana, while the territorial dispute between the two states remains open. The confrontation between the countries has been going on since the 19th century, but has recently escalated due to significant oil deposits found in the region.
