The Polish prosecutor's office has completed its investigation into the attack on Ukrainian citizens due to their origin. The attackers admitted that they acted out of national hatred. This was reported by the prosecutor's office in Ostrołęka, writes UNN.

The incident occurred on February 19, 2026, in the city of Przasnysz. Two men - Mateusz P. and Sebastian S. - broke into the house where Ukrainians lived and attacked them with a machete. One of the victims - Ivan S. - was standing at the entrance when the attacker struck him with the weapon. After that, another Ukrainian - Vasyl H. - ran out to help and was also wounded. The third resident of the building - Radoslav P. - helped drag the wounded man inside and close the door, stopping further violence.

As a result of the armed attack, both Ukrainian citizens sustained cut wounds to their hands: one received wounds to the hand and fingers, the other - cuts to three fingers. According to expert conclusions, the injuries did not pose a long-term threat to life, but caused a temporary deterioration of health.

One of the suspects was detained immediately, the second - was hiding and was taken into custody on April 3. Both attackers were charged with using violence due to the victims' citizenship, causing bodily harm, and creating a threat to life. During interrogation, the suspects pleaded guilty.

Both suspects are in custody awaiting trial. Given the recidivism, they face up to 12 years in prison.
