German national football team star Manuel Neuer has announced the end of his career with the national team, UNN reports citing Bild.
The famous goalkeeper spent 15 years in the national team and played 124 matches for Germany, and for seven years he was the team captain. Neuer spoke about his decision to leave on Instagram.
"Everyone who knows me knows that this decision was not easy for me. (...) We had many ups and downs in the national team. The pinnacle was, in my opinion, the victory at the Maracana Stadium over Argentina, when we became world champions," the footballer wrote.
Neuer thanked his colleagues and fans, and also hinted at the reason for his decision - he had already earned the "crown of glory" as a member of the national team.
