An indictment against the driver involved in a fatal accident at a Kyiv checkpoint that killed a National Guard officer has been sent to court after a full investigation.
Law enforcement officers have sent to court an indictment against the driver in the case of a fatal accident that killed a National Guard soldier at a checkpoint in Kyiv on July 25, the National Police in the capital reported on Thursday, UNN reports.
Details
Investigators conducted a number of examinations and collected the necessary evidence in the criminal proceedings. The pre-trial investigation is now complete, and the indictment against the suspect has been sent to the Sviatoshynskyi District Court for consideration of the case on the merits.
Case in brief
On the night of July 25, a 23-year-old driver of a Volkswagen on Beresteysky Avenue hit two soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine at high speed, then rammed two other cars, one of which was occupied by a soldier.
As a result of the collision, the 49-year-old soldier died on the spot from his injuries, and his 26-year-old colleague was hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. Another injured soldier was treated on the spot.
