The Ukrainian Armed Forces have killed former Russian national team defender Alexei Bugaev, who went to fight in Ukraine instead of serving 9.5 years in prison. Earlier, he was detained for drugs and sentenced to a maximum security colony.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have eliminated former Russian national team defender Oleksiy Bugayev - in the fall, the occupier signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. This was reported by the Russian media, UNN reports.

"Unfortunately, the news of Oleksiy's death is true. How did it happen? How do they kill during hostilities? It happened today," said Ivan Bugayev, the father of the former Russian national football player.

According to sports lawyer Anton Smirnov, because of the fighting, "it is not yet possible to take the body" of the Russian militant.

It is known that last fall the footballer was detained with 500 grams of methylephedrone derivative. He was accused of producing and selling drugs.

Initially, Bugayev claimed that he was working as a courier for drug dealers to pay off his debts, but soon said that the police planted drugs on him and extorted money. At the end of September this year, Bugayev was sentenced to 9.5 years in a maximum security prison. He went to fight against Ukraine to avoid prison.
