Czech CSG builds the most modern production of 155-mm shells in the USA after transferring the license to Ukraine

The Czech defense company CSG, which previously helped deploy the production of 155-mm artillery ammunition in Ukraine, is building a new facility in the United States for equipping such shells. The enterprise is intended to replace a production line that has been operating for over 50 years, reports Defense Express, writes UNN.

Details

The new Future Artillery Complex (FAC) is being built on the territory of the Army Ammunition Plant in Iowa (IAAAP). The project is being implemented by CSG's subsidiary, MSM North America, which received a contract from the U.S. Army in 2025. Upon completion of construction, the complex will become, according to the company, the most modern enterprise in the United States for equipping 155-mm artillery shells with explosives.

Construction will last about 40 months, with the full launch of the enterprise scheduled for 2029.

According to Defense Express, the plant in Iowa currently produces about 30,000 large-caliber ammunition per month. By the end of 2027, this figure is planned to be increased to 78,000, and after the commissioning of the new complex, the potential production capacity could rise to approximately 114,000 shells per month.

CSG is already helping Ukraine produce ammunition

As the publication notes, CSG is one of the largest European ammunition manufacturers and is not only expanding its own capacities but also transferring licenses to other countries. In Ukraine, the company cooperates with "Ukrainian Armored Vehicles," which already has the capability to produce up to 100,000 long-range artillery shells per year.

In addition to ammunition, the Czech company is promoting other defense products on the American market, including Tatra trucks and the MORANA self-propelled artillery system.
