Crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun bought an art object "comedian" at Sotheby's auction-a banana taped to the wall. During a press conference in Hong Kong, he ate the fruit, comparing it to NFT.

The cryptocurrency entrepreneur fulfilled his promise to eat a banana from the sensational art object "comedian" for 6 6.2 million, writes UNN with reference to the BBC.

Justin Sun won the auction at Sotheby's and bought Maurizio Cattelan's sensational work "the comedian" in 2019 — a banana taped to the wall.

The entrepreneur ate the fruit during a press conference in Hong Kong, where he used the moment to draw parallels between a work of art and cryptocurrency.

The banana is regularly changed before exhibitions, and the exhibit has already been eaten before. The first was artist David Datuna in 2019, followed by a North Korean student in 2023. However, none of them paid several million for the fruit, as Justin Sun did in 2024.

"It's much better than other bananas," Justin Sun added.

The entrepreneur also compared an art object and other abstract works similar to it with an NFT.

The banana, bought from a street vendor for 35 cents, became part of the art installation "comedian" and was sold at Sotheby's for.6.2 million. The fruit seller was shockedto learn of this a few days later.
