60% of Russians believe the economic situation is worsening, trust in the authorities is declining - poll

A Gallup poll showed that 60% of Russians note a worsening economy, and trust in the armed forces fell from 79% to 66%. This is the first time since 2006 that a majority of Russian adults have reported a deterioration.

More than half (60%) of Russians believe that the economic situation in their city or region is deteriorating. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the American research company Gallup, conducted from March to May 2026, reports UNN.

It is noted that only slightly more than a quarter (27%) of residents of the Russian Federation indicated that economic affairs are improving.
This is the first time since 2006 that a majority of adult Russians have said their economy is worsening. Previous highs were in 2020 (45%) and 2021 (50%) during the COVID-19 pandemic
Also, according to their data, trust in state institutions has decreased in the Russian Federation. Thus, trust in the armed forces fell from 79% to 66% over the year, in the government – from 67% to 53%, and the share of those who consider elections honest decreased from 56% to 40%. A positive assessment of the level of media freedom in Russia was given by 34% of respondents, compared to 59% a year earlier.

The rating of the pro-government party of the Russian Federation "United Russia" decreased from 23% to 16% over six months. 22.3% of Russians said they would not vote for it under any circumstances.
