What is celebrated on July 1 in Ukraine and the world
Kyiv • UNN
In Ukraine, July 1 marks the Day of Architecture, the Day of the State Registrar, and the Day of the Investigator. Around the world, Canada Day, International Joke Day, and Reggae Day are celebrated.

July 1, 2026 is not only the start of the second summer month, but also a day full of events. While Canada celebrates its main national holiday, Ukrainian architects, state registrars and investigators receive congratulations on their professional days. And to make Wednesday even brighter, the world today celebrates International Joke Day. UNN will tell about the main holidays of the first day of July.
Day of Architecture of Ukraine
An official professional holiday established in 1995. It celebrates the work of architects, urban planners and restorers — people who create the face of our cities. Today, when Ukraine needs large-scale reconstruction after the destruction, the role of these specialists is critically important for the future of the country.
Day of the State Registrar
A holiday for workers who daily ensure the registration of businesses, property rights and other crucial legal acts, maintaining order in state registers.
Day of the Investigator
Professional holiday of pre-trial investigation bodies who perform complex and often dangerous work in solving crimes and ensuring justice.
Canada Day
The main national holiday of Canada, which celebrates the unification of the British North American colonies into a single dominion in 1867. For Ukrainians, this holiday is also close, as Canada is home to one of the largest Ukrainian diasporas in the world and remains a powerful ally of Ukraine.
International Joke Day
An unofficial but very positive holiday. It is a great reason to share a favorite joke, watch stand-up, or simply cheer up friends. It is believed that laughter reduces stress levels and improves immunity, so joking today is also good for health.
International Reggae Day
A musical holiday founded in Jamaica, which honors the reggae style and its influence on world culture, and promotes the ideas of peace and love that are so often heard in these rhythms.
Day of Remembrance of the Holy Wonderworkers and Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian
According to the new (New Julian) calendar, which the OCU and UGCC have adopted, on this day the brothers Cosmas and Damian are honored, who lived in Rome in the 3rd century. They were talented doctors who treated people and animals for free, converting many to the Christian faith. For their work, they suffered a martyr's death.
