'We don't want escalation': Kirby on the idea of shooting down missiles in the skies of Ukraine from the territory of Poland

The U.S. rejects Ukraine's proposal that Poland shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian airspace to avoid escalating the conflict and give Putin arguments that NATO provoked the war.

The US authorities have reacted to the proposal to shoot down Russian missiles from the territory of Poland in the skies of Ukraine. US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that America does not want escalation and does not want to give Putin arguments that NATO provoked the war. This  UNN reports with reference to Polskie Radio.

"Nobody wants an escalation of this war," Kirby said in response to a question about Ukraine's request to shoot down Russian missiles from Poland.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the security agreement with Poland includes a provision to develop a mechanism to shoot down Russian missiles and dronesfired towards Poland in Ukrainian airspace .
