"We are closely monitoring and calling for de-escalation": the West reacted to the escalation in Syria

The US State Department has called on the parties to the conflict in Syria to de-escalate and protect civilians. Rebels have captured Aleppo, and airstrikes by Syrian and Russian troops have killed 25 people in Idlib.
The press service of the US State Department released a joint statement on the development of events in Syria, reports UNN.
We are closely monitoring developments in Syria and call on all parties to de-escalate and protect civilians and infrastructure in order to prevent further displacement and disruption of humanitarian access. The current escalation only underscores the urgent need for a political solution to the Syrian-led conflict in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.

Earlier, UNN reported that the Rebels attacked the positions of the Assad army in the area of western Aleppo, taking advantage of the absence of Russian troops. Bashar al-Assad urgently arrived in the Russian Federation amid the aggravation of the situation.
As a result of airstrikes by Syrian and Russian troops on residential areas of Idlib, at least 25 people were killed. The attackstook place against the background of the escalation of the conflict and Assad's statements about his intentions to defeat the rebels in Aleppo.
Syrian rebels with the support of Turkey completely captured the city of Aleppo. During the assault, a statue of President Bashar al-Assad's brother and father was knocked down,and the flag of Free Syria was raised over the Citadel.
