In February 2024, Ukrainian banks issued 783 mortgage loans totaling UAH 1.3 billion, up 17.3% compared to January 2024 and more than seven times more than in February 2023, with the majority of loans issued under the e-Home program at an average interest rate of 7.6% per annum.
Ukrainians were more active in taking out mortgages in February this year - banks issued 783 mortgages for UAH 1.3 billion, which is 17.3% more than in January and more than seven times more than in February 2023, with most loans granted under the eHouse program, and mortgages were taken out at an average rate of 7.6% per annum, the NBU reported based on the results of a monthly survey of banks on mortgages, UNN writes.

Key findings of the survey:
▪️ The volume of mortgage loans granted to the population in February 2024 increased by 17.3% compared to the previous month (January 2024), while being more than seven times higher than in the same period last year (February 2023);
▪️ reported that nine banks that lent money for the purchase of housing in February. As before, most transactions were made in the secondary real estate market;
▪️ The mortgage segment remains driven by preferential lending under the eOselya program (almost all loans over the past year were granted under this program);
▪️ The weighted average effective mortgage rate in February remained at 7.6% p.a. for the fourth consecutive month.
In terms of regions, the largest number of mortgage loans in February were issued in Kyiv and Kyiv region - 357 agreements totaling UAH 631.4 million (48.5% of the total), Lviv (51 agreements for UAH 99.6 million), Odesa (46 for UAH 71.9 million) and Vinnytsia (35 for UAH 50.9 million) regions.

During the survey in March 2024, 37 banks responded with a share of 98.3% of the total gross mortgage portfolio at the end of 2021.
