Ukraine opens the recruitment market: aiming to fill 30–50% of assault and infantry positions with foreigners
Kyiv • UNN
The Ministry of Defense aims to enlist up to 50% foreigners into the infantry to save lives. By the end of the year, they plan to begin the discharge of long-serving military personnel.

Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated that the ministry's goal is to attract up to 30–50% of foreigners to assault and infantry positions. Fedorov reported this on Telegram, according to UNN.
We are opening the recruitment market for foreigners to strengthen combat units and preserve the lives of Ukrainian servicemen. Our goal is to fill up to 30–50% of assault and infantry positions with foreigners
According to him, another key issue is justice for those who have been in the Defense Forces the longest and have spent the most time in combat.
For them, we are beginning a gradual discharge from service by the end of the year. This is only the first stage of a large-scale transformation. The second is a comprehensive transformation of the recruitment and mobilization process. We are building an army with clear rules and respect for the soldier. Human life is the greatest value. And our main task is to do everything possible to preserve the life of a soldier on the front line. It is precisely such an army that is capable of giving Ukraine a strong position to end the war
As a reminder
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced payments averaging 300,000 for military personnel and contracts with clear conditions, terms of service, and deferments; the first additional payments are expected "as early as June."
